Biography

After college, I focused my education on upper level classes in real estate appraisal, viticulture and enology (winemaking), equipment and personal property (chattel), appraisal review, litigation, business valuation, fractional interest, conservation easements, as well as real estate law, practices, and principles.  I worked for several vineyards and wineries to gain firsthand experience in viticultural and winemaking practices.  I have also worked with winery and equipment valuation specialists, suppliers, and vendors.

I am an expert in real and personal property valuations, with my primary focus being wineries, winery equipment, vineyards, and wine storage warehouses, in addition to a wide array of agricultural facilities and commodities. To date I have completed over 700 winery appraisals throughout California, with most of my appraisals including real property, plant and equipment components.  I also provide appraisal reviews, have expert witness and litigation experience, and have consulted on a wide array of appraisal related topics.

I have been invited to speak to college and university classes, as well as appraisal, lending, real estate, accounting, and agricultural groups, on a wide variety of appraisal, vineyard, and winery topics.  I have been a key contributor to the Trends in Agricultural Land and Lease Values of California and Nevada, over the past 20 years, which is published by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.  Additionally, I have been interviewed and quoted in many news articles, on agricultural, vineyard, winery, and value related topics.  Finally, I have provided instruction, and mentoring to various groups, individuals, and appraisers.

About Me

I am a California native with over 35 years of commercial agricultural appraisal experience, specializing in wineries, equipment, vineyards, rural estates, and agricultural facilities, in addition to extensive experience in most agricultural commodities.  I spent most of my career with American AgAppraisal, which is part of American AgCredit, and over the years we provided appraisal services to a diverse group of agricultural lenders, law firms, and individuals.  My appraisals have been used for lending, property transfers, estate planning, consulting and litigation, and over the years I have built a solid reputation as an expert in my field.
